I just have to say that Mother's Day was great!
Especially because it started on Saturday when I and my great friend AnnMarie (who was back in town for her husband's graduation from dental school) went to Joe's Crab Shack for crawfish. This may not be a treat for some of you, but I NEVER get crawfish and was giddy to have them for the second time in one month!
We even remembered to get a picture together!
That's me sucking the head. As you can see, I'm not really sucking it. There are somethings even I won't do without a cash reward.
AnnMarie noted that it is perfectly fitting to become friends as workout partners only to have a last Hurrah on Mother's Day stuffing our faces, both a little fatter than we were before. (Curse those sympathy pounds!)
After Joe's we saw Date Night, which is a pretty funny little flick - one of those, laugh/cringe/cringe/laugh kind of movies. Me likey Steve and Tina. Bust me a gut.
The next day Clarence was on call and I was only a *little* late getting the kids to church - we still got a bench! (after the young men sat down we sat ALL THE WAY UP FRONT. I was feeling brave) They didn't do too bad actually, and Clarence showed up just after closing prayer so he took James to nursery - what a sweetie.
Since we weren't sure if Clarence was going to get called in or not we kept it simple with Taco Salad and Lemon Squares. He got to stay until 6pm! The kids picked out a pottery book for me on Clay and Glazes along with some Godiva Chocolates. (They only looked a little sad when Dad said they'd be eating M&Ms instead of the Godiva.)
I put the kids to bed at 7:30 and took a long, hot bath while I read a book (didn't drop it!), gave myself a pedicure, called my mom to wish her Happy Mother's Day and went to bed as soon as Clarence came home. Bliss.
Best Mother's Day ever!
